The Side Plank primarily strengthens the obliques, which are located next to your abs on both sides of your body. However, this is a full-body exercise that also trains the muscles in your hips, chest and shoulders.
Side Plank variations are based on the same philosophy as traditional Planks, which is to prevent movement of your spine—how your core is designed to function.
As an athlete, this is a critical skill. Your lumbar spine, located in your lower back, is designed for stability, not mobility. Repeatedly moving the vertebrae in ways they aren't designed to handle may cause back pain and ultimately lead to an injury, such as a herniated disc.
In addition, a more stable and stiffer core is better able to transfer energy between your lower and upper body. You'll be more powerful in skills such as throwing a ball, you'll have better balance and you'll be harder to knock off the ball and more efficient when moving around the field, thanks to having better control of your body.

Concentration involves mastering the ability to hard focus or fine center your eyes on an extremely small object.  An example of this can be instructing a pitcher to concentrate on the catcher’s glove.  To take it a step further you can ask them to hard focus on one of the laces on the catcher’s mitt.

Focus is of one of the most important aspects of pitching. So many times you see young pitchers lose the strike zone because of their inability to concentrate.
One the things we work on at Baseball ⚾️ Strong 💪🏽 is creating a competitive environment which forces kids to maintain focus by implementing games that create an urgency for every pitch.  The goal here is to Push a pitcher into what is known as hard focus.  When a pitcher is able to maintain this degree of hard focus consistently he can consistently achieve what he practices in game situations. This is why it’s important that pitchers practice hard focusing every time they throw.
